COCOCO Furniture Manufacturer Issues Statement
Calling for Repeal of House Bill 2
COCOCO, a fast-growing custom couch and sofa manufacturer based in Cornelius, N.C., today (April 12) issued a statement calling for the repeal of House Bill 2 in North Carolina.
“We join hundreds of other North Carolina businesses in urging Governor Pat McCrory and the North Carolina Legislature to repeal House Bill 2, which overturns protections for LGBT people and sanctions discrimination across North Carolina,” said Steve Sechrest, company president. “LGBT people deserve full protection as respected citizens vital to our business, our state and our nation.
“Such laws are bad for our employees, bad for business, and bad for our state’s reputation. Discrimination is wrong, and it has no place in North Carolina or anywhere else in our country. Our company prides itself on being inclusive and welcoming to all, and we believe this is a value which should be shared statewide, including leaders of our state government.”
COCOCO (short for the Comfortable Couch Company) manufactures all its sofas and upholstered furniture in Newton, N.C., and sells its products nationwide through its website, www.CococoHome.com .
