Heirloom leather by Moore & Giles is the true story of sustainability. In an effort to reduce waste and prove that every hide has value – not just the “perfect” ones, Moore & Giles has designed this leather in their Reclaimed: Project to celebrate each hide’s natural markings and surface inconsistencies. Moore & Giles uses this reclaimed leather on their leather products like backpacks and satchels, but Heirloom leather looks equally beautiful on upholstered furniture. These hides had previously been deemed by some as useless and may have ended up in the landfill, but Heirloom tells a dynamic visual story of rich character and authenticity. Perfect? No, but its soft, supple hand and striking natural shading are perfect for making a distinctive impact that you know is real. Can you see Heirloom’s natural beauty?
Heirloom is tanned at Adelaide in Bassano Del Grappa, Italy by the same 6th generation Finco family that produces many of our best-known leathers including Mont Blanc, Brompton, and Notting Hill.
Like any aniline leather, no two hides will be exactly the same for Heirloom leather. Natural, real, and unapologetic – Heirloom reminds us that every leather hide has a story to tell. Even better, Heirloom leather is one of our more affordable aniline leathers. Heirloom comes in a lovely mid-tone brown called “Oak” that would suit pretty much any color scheme, and a “Black” color (new in 2021 and yet to be upholstered – will your piece be the first?). Below are examples of the characteristic markings one should expect to find on their Heirloom furniture piece. These include stretch marks, barbed wire scars, healed bug bites, fat lines, freckles, and other scars.
