Ellis is one of the most unique leathers we have come across – it is supremely soft, supple, thick, AND matte. This is a rare combination, but one we can’t stop touching. Moore & Giles’ Ellis leather is made at the Adelaide Tannery in Bassano del Grappa Italy. The moment we saw (and touched!) the first hides, we knew our customers would be crazy about it. We believed this so much that we bought the entire first production runs of the original four colors. We are way past that now. Ellis is a hit!
Ellis is made on extraordinary German hides that have an amazing, luxurious, hand. The colors are neutral, but rich at the same time. The leather has a smooth gradual pull-up effect that creates deep visual interest, but where Ellis really separates itself is its feel. Truly a uniquely soft matte leather, it is one of the finest we have seen. In fact, the tannery where it is made has been making leather since 1865, through five generations, and says Ellis may be the best leather they have ever produced. There are a lot of leathers out there, but Ellis stands apart.
Ellis leather is simply perfect on any piece – tight back, pillow back, ottoman, tufted… You really can’t go wrong with Ellis.
Cool Grey – A nice true dark grey that’s not too brown or blue
Sahara – a light golden brown
Cypress – warm reddish medium brown, and our most popular Ellis color
Chocolate – beautiful deep brown
Oxblood – a lovely deep red with a bit of black
Gravel – a neutral gray brown
